A bit of history
Tec Vithanika lnstitute was established in 1983 through the initiative of the late Bishop of Chilaw, Rt. Rev. Dr. Frank Marcus Fernando. The institute was founded with the mission of providing skill-oriented education in various technical fields, empowering youth with careerbased skills, and contributing to the solution of the unemployment problem. Upon its inception, Rev. Fr. Peter Fernando was appointed as the first Director. As time passed, the need for a well-equipped higher education center for youth became increasingly evident. Recognizing this necessity, His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Valence Mendis, after assuming office as the Bishop of Chilaw, took the initiative to establish a new institution. ln 2008, Tec Vithanika expanded its scope, leading to its rebranding as "St. Anthony's !nstitute of Higher Studies and Tec Vithanika." Following this expansion, Rev. Fr. lvan Anthony was appointed as the Director. The institute is officially registered under the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission of Sri Lanka with registration number P13/0030.
His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Wimal Siri Jayasuriya serves as the Patron of the institute.
At present, His Lordship has re-appointed Rev. Fr. lvan Anthony Perera as the Director.

Our classroom
The classroom dedicated to the course Social Work and Care Takers has been completely refurbished and specifically prepared for this task.
It has an ample space absolutely in line with the pandemic situation where students can easily study with space and security.
Multimedia projector is installed for the theoretical classes and different equipment and tools are available in the same hall for practical classes: hospital bed, mobility devices, health-related equipment.
The classroom/hall is fully air conditioned for a comfortable learning
